Today we celebrate moms.
One thing about becoming a mom is learning who you want to be as a mom and how you weave that into your life. This a journey we are all still living, probably for our whole lives. And what a beautiful journey.
Another big part of becoming a mom is understanding what it must have been like for your own mom.
I don’t know about you, but this newfound understanding has filled me with gratitude.
Mom…Thank you for getting up a night with me. Thank you for changing my diapers. Thank you for waiting at the bus tope with me on the first day of school. Thank you for cheering for me during countless sporting events. Thank you for driving me to gymnastics classes, basketball practice and piano lessons. Thank you for valuing my education. Thank you for working so hard to instill good values.
But most of all, thank you for loving me unconditionally.
And to my kids…I will do all of those things for you too. But most of all, I just want you to be happy and healthy, and I will ALWAYS love you unconditionally.
Being a mom is the best job in the work, and also one of the most challenging. So don’t feel guilty if this mothers’ day all you really want is a break. If this is how you feel, you are not alone. Treating yourself to a spa treatment, alone time at home or another activity that you find rejuvenating is a great way to celebrate being mom and to come home energized and excited for more momming.
So happy mothers’ day to you and your mom!
